Ummino is pioneering clinically grounded microbiome solutions
for the growing metabolic health market.
With roughly 130 million Americans affected by metabolic syndrome
and GLP-1 adoption accelerating nationwide,
Ummino is positioned at the intersection of gut health and
metabolic resilience.
Dr. Andrea Azcarate-Peril, Professor of Medicine and Director of the Microbiome Core Facility at UNC-Chapel Hill, and Dr. Jose Bruno-Barcena, tenured Professor of Microbiology at NC State University, Ummino was born when Charles and Jose met over lunch in early 2022.
They decided to combine forces and merge their teams into a powerhouse biosciences organization with a singular mission: To target the adult microbiome and address the onset of unhealthy aging from microbiome decline.
We are microbiologists, clinical scientists, biochemical engineers, nutritional experts, business minds, and finance gurus, all with a singular North Star mission:
Transforming lives through better nutrition to unlock the microbiome's potential for human health and wellness.
